What keeps you moving?

Over the last 75 days, I have done some kind of physical activity every day except for one. One day... It was November 1st. The day after October GRIT challenge. Instead of moving, I spent the day suffering from a sugar hangover from eating too much of Eli’s Halloween candy the night before. (Don’t worry, he had pleny of his own candy.) The next day, my body was moving pretty slow. And … [Read more...]

“BIG feelings”

Eli is thick into the threenager phase. He is very much driven by his emotions. And his emotions can be BIG. When he gets told no... And especially if he gets in trouble. Right now, there is nothing worse than getting in trouble for something that he’s been told three times prior not to do. That is when the big mamma and daddy guns come out. That’s when he gets told firmly how what he is … [Read more...]

“Finishing what you start.”

Eli likes to play games on the computers at the library. Yesterday was his 3rd time to get on them, so he knew the routine. He played a few regular puzzles first on the easy setting. “Croochy”

In StoryAthlete FUEL, we’re asked to rate on a scale of 1 to 10, how disciplined are you in watching what you put into your body as a means to optimize your energy levels?... I would honestly have to say 3, max. I eat a good amount of protein and don’t over eat anymore. But I can’t say that I use food to “optimize my energy levels.” And while I want to say that I don’t eat that bad... The … [Read more...]

Happiness of pursuit

“I’m more interested in the happiness of pursuit than I am in the pursuit of happiness.“ -Emily Fletcher I’ll be the first to admit that I am never satisfied. And that’s not a bad thing. It’s not that I’m not happy… In fact, I am extremely happy with my life! There are so many things to be grateful for. But I always know there is more. There is always an opportunity to improve. … [Read more...]

The edges…

Eli has been very into coloring and drawing lately. Last night he divided a piece of paper into 4 quadrants and was coloring each section a different color. The edges were the hardest. When he got to the edge of the paper his pencil would run off of the page as he vigorously scribbled to cover every inch of the page with color. Frustration built every time the paper would bend and tear … [Read more...]
